New Work Release: A Mischief of Magpies

This new series of handpainted wooden wallhangings is a contemplation on the beauty of Magpies. Without access to ceramic facilities, I have been experimenting with new materials. The pieces are a jump from functional work to purely visual work. However, the hands on interaction I’ve always loved in my functional work continues in this collection. The work as a whole is made up of unique individual pieces that are meant to be arranged in whatever way a person wants. There is nothing static about this work. It is meant to change and transform. The charm of magpies is to be arranged and rearranged, moved around, broken up, separated into individual pieces and grouped together again. A person interacts with them by creating their own expressions through personal compositions.
